Meet Jenna–Personal Trainer

This week is all about Jenna! Jenna is a newly qualified personal trainer and fitness competitor.
Name: Jenna Richardson
Position: Personal Trainer
Level: 1
Qualifications: First Aid, CPR, Behavioral Science Technology Diploma

Mini Bio:  I am 25 years old and have been immersed in the world of physical fitness for about 3 years now. I am a Certified Personal Trainer through Sports Performance Institute. I am currently training for the OPA figure competition that will be held in Ottawa this coming November. My vocational history includes working in the social services field and I think that this speaks to my desire to help people and what type of person I am.
People who know me would describe me as dedicated, friendly, supportive, and very organized. When training, I like to challenge people while maintaining a very encouraging attitude that makes people feel comfortable that trying their hardest is enough. I will never ask for anything more than your “Max Effort.”

Company Info: I co-own Max Effort Training with Neil Dillon.

Favorite Exercise: I can’t pick one favorite; that’s too difficult. I love anything that is really challenging. I can name a few favorites: Single-legged Romanian Dead Lift, Split Squats, Pull Ups, Elastic Band Sprints, and Push Up – DB  Row.

Favorite Athlete: I don't know if she's my favorite, but I like Emily Stirling. She is a professional figure competitor as well as personal trainer and nutrition coach. She is an impressive athlete and in amazing shape. I like to watch some of her workout videos for new ideas.

Best Training Tip: “Keep at it” make working out and being active a part of your lifestyle; something you just do every day – like brushing your teeth. If working out is not your "cup of tea" try to find ways to incorporate it into something you like doing and change your perspective about it. Think of being active as something that challenges you, is good for your health, and can be fun instead of thinking of it as a chore. Also, stay positive. Lasting results may take longer to achieve than you’d like, but it’s definitely worth the wait.

Biggest Passion: I love training and I love learning about nutrition and I am in luck because there's always more to learn! It may sound funny, but my passion is to make people "believers." What is mean is that I love to see people who are new to working out and maybe not too excited about it, transform and "catch the workout bug" and really start to enjoy and look forward to each of their training sessions. I love to watch them achieve their goals (do that one more push up, lose that extra 5 pounds- whatever their goals are).
